To the editor,
We spend $35 million on a new school but are reluctant to give teachers what they deserve.
Why should the superintendent earn well over $100000, and the principals? The county supervisors just gave raises to many, including themselves.
Why do teachers have to grovel? Our teachers have to deal with much, much more than teaching. They have become social workers and care givers. Teachers are the backbone of our society.
Our state did a terrible thing when they took away collective bargaining rights. Shame on Iowa. Teachers need and deserve our support.
Sincerely, Bruce Banister – Jefferson
